Feb. 4th, 2009 04:46 pm"I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you right. I think you just said you wanted me to testify against my father."
Lady Jaye nodded. "That's exactly what I said Billy."
Billy paced the room, which bore an uncomfortable resemblance to an interrogation room. He should have known there could be no good coming when the G.I.Joe Intelligence officer had showed up on his doorstep. With few exceptions, whenever one of these people showed up, it meant trouble.
"No." he said finally, shaking his head. "I can't. I promised him I wouldn't betray him."
Now it was Lady Jaye's turn for disbelief. "You can't be serious Billy. Your father has betrayed you beyond...HOW many times has he tried to kill you?"
"My father is insane." Billy said hotly. "I'm not. I made a promise-"
"This is about maintaining the moral high ground?" Lady Jaye said incredulously. "Letting your father get away with everything he's done, not just to you, but to countless other people? You think that sits well on a high horse? Or is this because you think he'll get out? Are you afraid? Billy you're well hidden. You have a man guarding you-"
"Oh, yeah that. Thanks for that by the way. I wasn't paranoid enough, I needed a room mate who was spying on me."
"Billy, your father, is a dangerous psychotic. If there is such thing as Evil, he is. He has bullied you your entire life. Are you seriously going to let him get away with that?"
"You don't need my testimony." Billy said. "You've gotta have plenty of witnesses-"
"None who can have as much impact as his own son."
Billy winced at the words 'own son'. His father had thrown those words at him often enough and even though he knew his father was in the wrong every time, it had hurt him. He'd felt shamed.
"I'll think about it."
