Though John had only been a member of G.I. Joe for a short time, he had proved himself to be a loyal, courageous and valuable member of the team. So much so that he had just become the first, and possibly only, extra dimensional person to be "buried" in Arlington Cemetery.
The coffin was empty of course, there being no body to lay to rest. Billy hoped that wherever they were, John's remains were being properly cared for. He stood beside Firewall, who clutched his hand tightly. He tried to provide whatever comfort he could. On her other side, Mainframe stood solemnly.
Duke, Gen. Hawke, and Stalker were also present. They had been the members of the Joe Team who had worked with John most. Billy felt the hand holding his tighten it's grip as the guns went off, saluting the coffin as it was lowered into the ground.
Duke took the folded flag, and handed it to Billy.
"He was a good man." he said simply.
Billy just nodded, taking the flag. He relinquished Firewall's hand as she turned to Mainframe for further comfort.
