The Roof, late Friday Night

The sound of the rain on the roof, hitting his hood, provided as soothing rhythm that helped him slow his breathing, ease his pulse, and calm his mind as he meditated on the events since his arrival.
Billy had feared that his unusual appearance would set him apart. As it turned out, much to his roommates disappointment, that he seemed to be one of the more normal students here.
For instance, his room mate was part cat, his “big sister” was a witch, and there were even quite a few time travelers. He wasn’t even the only one with an eye patch. He wasn’t sure how he felt about all that.
The twins creeped him out a bit, and Bel, between his casual remarks about cannibalism and the revelation that he was a demon….of course Billy could no longer fault for the snickerdoodles, if it were a joke. His own…retaliation(?) had proven just as callous.
Who knew Billy had a sense of humor? Certainly not Billy.
But then there were those he’d met who, while eccentric, like Jude or Blair, seemed rather normal. Blair seemed to have an inner wellspring of energy, and d, to Billy’s mind, morbid curiosity. He’d lived with the patch for so long, he couldn’t understand Blair's obsession.
Summer, Cally, Lana, Dean, Prof. Aziraphale, and Izzy all seemed to be friendly, and more normal than he. Though it was possible that looks could be deceiving. Plus Willow couldn’t help but be endearing.
And he’d met an alien at the first aid workshop. This place was definitely not what he’d expected. He had to wonder if the powers that be in the witness protection program knew what he was getting into.

"Hey," he greeted, just in case the boy didn't notice.
