An energy blast exploded over the sword-weilding human's head, announcing the fact that one of the Aliens was a bit sharper than the others, and had taken notice of her.
It seemed to be lurking in a dark doorway, and had apparently learned a lesson from its fallen comrades -- don't engage the attacking humans straight-on.
It was only a matter of time, she figured, before something like that would happen. Setsuna was glad for it, as she ducked down under the blast; she was craving a bit of a challenge. From her lowered state, she grinned a little, and charged forward, drawing Daisuke back to slash across its knees, to dismember those appendages before worrying about the...(shudder) other ones.
The Alien wasn't expecting an attack to come from so low, and in fact barely realized the human was there before the strike came. Firing its weapon toward the human, the Alien lurched back, screeching as the blade cut deeply into its legs.
Propping itself against the doorframe, it followed up the weapon fire by swiping at the human with its tentacles.
Forget the guns; Setsuna could dodge blasts easily enough. The tentacles, however, still made her nervous and she froze a little as one came near and struck her, sending her back against the wall.
Picking up on the fact that tentacles were a more effective weapon on this human than its raygun, the Alien didn't bother to fire again. Instead, it flung two of its tentacles toward the human, in an attempt to grapple her arms.
A sharp panic seized Setsuna still for a moment, cowering back against the wall, as the tentacles sped toward her and, in a last second of cringing, she remembered her blade and lifted it so, instead of arms, they found steel. She held on tight to the hilt, preparing herself for a struggle for the weapon as she tried to release it by slicing through the appendages.
The tentacles wrapped around the blade and yanked hard, and the Alien let out another shried as the metal edge sliced into its flesh. One tentacles was cut cleanly through, the other fell away as the Alien released its grip.
Then it lunged toward the human, remaining tentacles outstretched and twitching in anger.
Shit. With Daisuke ready instead of Yuunagi, the tentacles would reach her before the body would rush into the end of the blade if she held it out, so she'd have to depend on her quickness. Drawing the blade in tight, Setsuna quickly rolled out of the way, holding down her free hand to use as a spring to her feet. Crouched down, she charged toward where she just was, hoping to catch the alien's back with her sword at the same time it had hoped to had had her in her previous spot.
The Alien was at a severe disadvantage, as its legs had been cut deeply, one nearly through. When the human rolled away, the Alien foundered, tentacles snapping outward wildly as it reached out to grasp anything it could reach to catch itself.
At the same time that the human's blade hit its back, the Alien fired its weapon at the place the human had been, in a desperate attempt to protect itself.
Setsuna sharply drew her weapon back, flipped it quickly to change her grip as she hopped to her feet, straightened, and sent the blade down sharply on its head, hoping to cleave right through the spot that she'd learned from last night that they split.
The Alien's tentacles whipped backward, in one last shot at survival, before the blade struck home. With a shudder, the Alien dropped to floor, twitched, and then stopped moving altogether.
A few more stabs to the back of the alien below her were necissary to ensure the death of the thing; everything else after that, sharp fierce, splattering insides everywhere, was just stress relief.
Unfortunately, while the human was busy taking out her aggressions on the dead Alien, one of its comrades turned the corner of the hallway and spotted her. Lunging toward her, the Alien flung out its tentacles to grasp at the human, two catching her around the waist, while a third snaked around her thigh.
Suddenly wrenched away from the dead shell of an alien, Diasuke caught on something inside and Setsuna lost her grasp on the hilt. Her hands grasped for it, but it was futile, and the realization that she had been capture sunk into her head and she paled. A scream wreched out of her; the cold feeling of the tentacle against her thigh filled her with such a sharp fear that she had forgotten that Yuunagi was still strapped to her back, and her hands desperately tried to pry the once around her waist away.
Tightening its grip hard around the human's waist, the Alien pulled her toward it, reaching out with its free hand to grab at the back of her neck while attempting to wrest the weapon from its sheath with the other hand.
A grunt escaped Setsuna, her back arching at the pain of the squeezing at her waist. One eye sliding open through her grimace, she noticed the alien's hand reaching for her. She winced again, waiting for its fingers to wrap around her neck, her mouth, something, but, when the feeling didn't arrive, she opened her eye again. It was reaching...behind her? What fo---
Shit! Yuunagi!
With a sudden renewal of fierceness, Setsuna's hand darted up, grappling onto the alien's wrist, squeezing it as tightly...tighter...than the tentacles were squeezing her wrist. Her other hand reached out to seize the the alien's throat.
The human was stronger than expected, and the pressure on the Alien's wrist caused it to release its own hold slightly. When she grabbed at its throat, the Alien made a surprised sound, and shoved the human away from it, hard against the wall.
The tentacle wrapped around the human's leg also let go, instead taking a swipe at her head.
Setsuna sucked in a gasp of air at the release, only to have it taken away from her as she hit the wall and slid to the floor. She shook her head, taking a moment to regain her shaken vision, just in time to see the tentacle swiping for her head. She still wouldn't have enough to time draw Yuunagi, especially since the floor had her jabbing into Setsuna's back uncomfortably, but she did have enough time to snatch the tentacle, gripping it tightly as the gave it a hard yank. Plenty of demon strength had been built up that it should pull the alien forward, into her, into a waiting punch to the face with her other hand.
The Alien was beginning to think that they'd abducted the wrong control group. Obviously the humans of this area had evolved beyond what was expected. Jerking forward in answer to the yank on its tentacle, the Alien swatted at the human again, tentacles seeking to grasp her head.
When the blow to its face came, the Alien's tentacles whipped outward in reaction, one of the smacking across the human's face.
Being slapped by a tentacle certainly did not help Setsuna's rage calm down. She reacted with a grunt and a hand lightly at her cheek for a second; it stung horribly. But then her eyes narrowed and she decided she had enough of this alien. Her grip on its neck tightened and she leaned forward into it to as her free hand quickly went from cheek to hilt. She didn't bother unsheathing Yuunagi. She just end the end of the hilt up and around, smartly smashing it into the top of the alien's head.
The Alien released its hold on the human when the hilt of her weapon struck its head. Staggering backward, it raised its weapon and fired wildly in the human's direction, before falling back and slumping weakly against the opposite wall.
//"Wind shield; return!"// She raised the blade to block the attack; a small wall of wind seemed to aid and, when she gave it a small push forward, the shot was sent right back for the alien.
Well, that wasn't part of the plan. As the Alien struggled to stand again, the energy bolt shot back toward it, catching the Alien squarely in the face.
It slumped back again, tentacles twitching for a moment, and then was still.
Setsuna slumped a little herself, arms dropping to her side and her eyes closing as she caught her breath and tried to regain some of the energy she had lost. That...was intense. It felt...amazing. But it wasn't over yet. She still had to find everyone. Pulling herself up to her feet, she wrenched Diasuke from the first alien, wiped it clean on her skirt before slipping him back into his sheath at her hip, and hurried down the corridor.
