Billy was long overdue for a letter to his mother he knew. Sure it’d only been two months since he’d seen her, but good lord a lot had happened since then.
Dear Mom,
Where do I begin? A new semester with new classes, new clubs, and new students. And a faculty mentor, but that’s another matter entirely.
I guess I’ll start with classes. I’m taking Fairy Tales, Forensics, Gods, and Mystical Artifacts. See I’ve decided I might want to be an archeologist. Fairy Tales is taught by a guy named Aziraphale. We kinda got off on the wrong foot but now we’re getting along fine.
Forensics is taught by a goth girl named Abby, and is really fun. I bet no other school in the world can create imaginary crime scenes to investigate.
Gods is taught by Ares. Yes, the real Ares. Yes I know that sounds insane. But our Vice Principal is Hades so what are you going to do?
Mystical Artifacts is pretty interesting too, if a little disturbing to find out that some things in the stories are real, and some are far less benign than they’d have you believe.
Billy paused in his writing. What else should he tell her? He was fairly sure he wasn’t going to tell her about Ami. Well, beyond the fact that they’d met and possibly that they’d started dating.
Thinking about Ami made him smile. She was the third girl he’d ever dated, and the first one that his mother would likely approve of. Her kindness was bringing out the best in him, which might be a large part of the reason he liked her. But he didn’t think he’d be telling his mother about things like, their first kiss, or making out in the woods, or the shirtless party.
He had to say, Fandom certainly had some very interesting girls. And for some reason, none of them were unattractive. He thought that was just in TV shows that that happened. Ami had the advantage of being Japanese, which he liked. And not being telepathic. Which he also liked. And had so far not tried to to spy on him. He hoped she woke up soon.
Back to the letter:
Well I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know mom, that I’ve started dating again. Yes again. Don’t ask about my previous dating experiences because I won’t tell you about them. Anyway, her name is Ami, and she’s from Japan. She’s nice, smart, and pretty. That’s all I’m prepared to tell you about her.
On the nonromantic front, I’m even making friends. Marvel. There’s a guy here with a robot. A robot that somewhat resembles a trashcan. And I’ve sparred with this guy named Pip. Must have been interesting to see, we both have missing eyes. Not too worry, it was friendly. I’ve also sparred with a Mermaid. There’s plenty of folks here who like the rain as much as I do, and I even found someone to give me stock advice.
Well, that's all for now Mom. Love you.
Billy
