OOC request for assistance (LJ question)

I have made a banner for my journal but I can't seem to figure out how to get it onto my journal. Can anyone help? LJ Help says to go to the images category in the customize journal page, but neither in my new, nor my old journal theme can I find such a category.

Cityscape Miami doesn't have an option for adding a background image, due to its particular design, so you won't find the images category while you've still got this theme chosen.

Component (like mine) has it (I say because I poked around and looked) but some do, some don't. It'll probably be a process of trial and error to pick a theme you like that allows you to add a header.

In general, though, none of the cityscape ones will. Nothing based on the "Expressive" style.

Actually, this journal has an Expressive style base, but toss in a few custom CSS overrides and the header image seems to work. So maybe that's it. This is the code I have:

background-image: url( [img url goes here]);
height: 300px;
}

#header, #header-content {
background-image: none;
}

#header-content-inner {
margin: 220px 25px 77px 0px;
}

Yay CSS! I figured there was a way to get around it with code, but I usually end up doing my own in the most complicated, bass-ackward way possible, so I'm useless for figuring out a simple over-ride that anybody can paste in.

I have been a complete dork for CSS since forever. I used to change my journal's layout with custom code pretty much every few months.

Of course, now I'm way too addicted to my current header image to change.

Awesome thanks! Now, two questions, I'm using photobucket as my upload page (as for some reason picasa won't let me upload any more pictures. maybe there's a daily limit or something. Do you know which code I'm supposed to use here? HTML? IMG? Direct Link? Also, is there a way to do this and keep the cityscape? If not no biggie.

Just replace the [img link goes here] bit with the actual link to the image. That's all. No html, no nuffink.

I'm afraid the latter's not possible, though-- this is code that substitutes the standing header image with another!

Hmm, well it worked, not...quite what I was going for, so I think I'm back to the trial and error bit. I'll definitely keep this in mind for other things though!
