Day Trip: Ocean City Maryland, Sunday

It was about a three hour drive to get from Alexandria to Ocean City. It was still early in the season, only partly sunny, and in the low 50's, so there weren't too many people there. Which is just how Billy liked it. Plenty of time for hellish crowds during the summer.

The big parking lot at the end of the boardwalk was nearly empty, making parking a hell of a lot easier than it could have been.

The boardwalk started almost immediately off the lot, with mostly closed shops, restuarants, and arcades lining it. The Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum was open, however the pier with it's thrill rides, water slides, and fishing spots was still gated and locked.

"And this," Billy said to Ami. "Is a boardwalk town in the off season."

"You'll have the homecourt advantage and everything."

"Exactly. Oh i will have so many things to show you!"

Billy smiled at her enthusiasm. And hey look at that, an Arcade with a place to buy fries right next to it!

"Oh look, there is a sign that says there is skeeball!"

"Excellent." He looked at the skeeball machine. "Looks fairly strait forward."

"I think the balls go in the holes?" She grinned and pu a quarter in the machine, which produced 8 balls. "Here goes nothing" Ami tried for the middle hole, but missed ending up wiht a 30.

It was a good thing she'd gone first, he'd been prepared to attempt to throw it into one of the holes. Her way made more sense.

"His way may have had more success. "This is difficult." Ami said, as she got a 10.

Billy put a quarter into the machine next to hers. He over estimated the force neccesary, and it bounced, and fell into the five hole.

"I think it is a matter of precise control" Ami said as she finally got one into a 50.

"I think you're right." Billy said. "Nice shot." He got his next shot into the ten.

"Thanks. This is really fun." Her next shot went into the 5 hole but the one after that into the 100.

Billy smiled as well, and got one into the 50. "Ooh, hey, tickets."

"Oh yeah. Um, what are they for?"

"I think you can exchange them," Billy pointed to the little prize stand. "For cheesy prizes."

"Oh excellent." Ami gathered up her tickets. "I can get an eraser, a hair band or a plastic ring. I need like fourty more for a non-plastic ring."

Billy snickered. "The wonders of capitalism."

"Indeed. how many tickets did you get?"

"20 so far."

"I should work on getting more. That eraser is not very appealing." Ami grinned and put another quarter into the machine.

"I dunno, a crab with the Md state colors on it? Kinda cute."

"Maybe. I might go for the hair band. Not so useful for you though eh?"

"No, my hair's too short."

"Exactly. You may have to go with the eraser?"
